Legalex (Pty) Ltd is a legal cost insurance administrator and legal services provider.  Policy holders enjoy insurance cover for legal costs and access to telephonic legal advisory services and a panel of attorneys.  All products and services are provided nationally.

Legalex (Pty) Ltd is private company, underwritten by Guardrisk Insurance Company Limited, a subsidiary of MMI Holdings.  It is a financial services provider registered with the Financial Services Conduct Authority.  It is authorized to create, issue and administer short term insurance policies, handle claims and facilitate the collection of premiums. Legal representation is provided to policy holders through its national panel of attorneys, numbering in excess of 300 law firms at any given time.

Policy holders are covered for legal costs arising from various causes within the borders of the Republic of South Africa.  Policies are designed to be appropriate to the needs of policy holders.  Policies suitable to individuals, families and businesses are provided.  The value of insurance cover, terms and conditions and premiums of policies are structured to be sufficient for most eventualities. All policies are subject to waiting periods from becoming a policy holder to inception of cover.

Legalex’ telephonic legal advisory service provides instantaneous access to sound legal advice by qualified and experienced legal professionals, 24 hours a day.  The service covers all aspects of South African law and is unlimited in respect of frequency and duration of use, as well as the type of enquiry. Policy holders also enjoy unlimited access to standard (unpersonalized) legal documentation.  Other tailor-made services are also rendered to client groups.

Legal representation is provided nationwide by qualified practising attorneys who are entitled to do so in terms of the Attorneys Act. Legal advice and other services are dispensed by experienced legal practitioners and legal advisors. The company enjoys the support of quality staff and in particular suitably trained personnel attending to client interaction. Legalex enjoys the confidence of its business partners in being the quality legal services provider of choice behind better known brands.

Legalex ensures that it remains compliant to legislation, regulations, codes of conduct and ethical business practises.  It is formally regulated through organs of state and is regularly subjected to external compliance audits.  It is subject to the authority of the Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance, the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Ombudsman and the Registrar of Short Term Insurance.
